Greene County High School senior Bryce Hoyle and his parents, JJ and Teresa, met with Iowa Shrine Bowl All-Star Football Game officials on Tuesday at the high school. James May, a 20 year Shriner, and Jack Lane, a 50 year Shriner were on hand to explain to the Hoyle’s in more detail about the game, how to fundraise and where proceeds from the July 20 Shrine Bowl go. The 2019 game inside the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls is the 49th Shrine Bowl in Iowa.
Hoyle was chosen as a defensive lineman for the South squad. Butch Pedersen of West Branch is the South head coach. Jay Roseboom of West Lyon (Inwood) is the head coach of the North squad. Hoyle was instrumental is the Rams going from 1-8 in 2017 to 8-2 in 2018 with a District co-championship and a trip to the Class 2A playoffs. He was named first team All-State in Class 2A.
Lane told Raccoon Valley Radio that there are 31 Shrine Bowls with high school football players across the U.S. and Iowa is consistently first or second in raising funds that go to treat children at Shriner’s medical facilities across the country.
