The Guthrie County Board of Supervisors met in regular session Tuesday.

The meeting began with the Board declining a property tax exemption request from Aaron Rowe. He was requesting the exemption for conservation practices at his property located west of Lake Panorama, which would require a rezoning of that land as well as other areas in the County. County Auditor Marci McClellan mentioned over speaker phone that his request could not be denied if the structure on the property was abandoned, to which she learned it was not. Supervisor Cliff Carney spoke after Rowe left the meeting, “He never once said that the building is abandoned, not once did he ever mention that.”

Next, County Engineer Josh Sebern informed the Board that the candidate they offered the new full-time Human Resources Director position to had counter-offered, interested in working only a few days a week for the County as a consultant. The Board then motioned to offer that candidate an extra $500 to her salary for her to work full-time, otherwise to give the original offer of $72,500 to the second choice.
