There’s a lot of snow on the ground and more expected to come today, as a winter storm warning has been issued for the Raccoon Valley Radio listening area.

The National Weather Service has now placed Dallas, Guthrie, and Adair counties under a warning until 6 p.m. tonight. The affected counties are expected to receive 6-8 inches of snow accumulation, as well as a period of freezing drizzle. The precipitation is expected to taper off in the afternoon, but travel is still not advised due to worsening road conditions. Additionally, the entire State of Iowa, including Greene County, remains under a winter weather advisory, also through 6 p.m.

According to the Iowa Department of Transportation, all roads in Dallas, Guthrie, and Adair counties are completely covered with snow, and there are currently tow bans in place for each. Roads in Greene County are partially covered with snow. Keep listening to Raccoon Valley Radio for the latest winter weather updates from our Severe Weather Action Team, as well as any cancellation and delay information.
