The high school wrestling season is over and the Greene County Rams accomplished some major goals under first year head coach Zach Beekman. The Rams qualified two wrestlers for the State Tournament after having no one qualify in 2018, which broke a streak of having at least one qualifier for the previous 29 years. The team had a winning dual meet record at 17-11 and finished 5-2 in Heart of Iowa Activities Conference dual meets. And, getting numbers to increase was a goal that also was met with 30 participants.

Coach Beekman told Raccoon Valley Radio there is a lot of work to do ahead, but he liked what he saw and looks forward to taking the next steps in building a program that can compete every year at the highest level.

Seniors Brock Wuebker at 170 lbs. and Bryce Hoyle at 195 lbs. were the two Greene County State qualifiers. Wuebker went 0-2 at Wells Fargo Arena and finished with a 26-6 record while Hoyle went 1-2 at State and completed his season at 11-7.
