The City of Perry is shifting gears on their needs assessment for the McCreary Community Building, moving on from one architectural firm to another.

City Administrator Sven Peterson says there was a series of performance and quality issues that cropped up with SVPA Architects, the firm originally hired to formulate a master plan for the 35-year-old recreation center. As a result, he found it necessary to move on, and began to engage with ETHOS Design Group from Polk City. Peterson says the company immediately got to work and has already shown great promise for what they feel they can do with the McCreary Center.

He adds ETHOS has been able to take what SVPA did and build on it. The master plan will include a great deal of improvements made behind the scenes, but Peterson assures the public there will be some upgrades they’ll be able to see as well. “We’re really trying to get that core infrastructure back up to snuff, as well as bring the aesthetics of the building up-to-date. And possibly even reusing some of the spaces within the building to create better spaces for classes or working out. Just a more modern facility, that’s really what we’re going for.”

Peterson says ETHOS should have some findings to present to the City in around two weeks, and work can begin on a few aspects of the plan shortly thereafter. To learn more, click the link below to listen to the most recent Perry Fareway Let’s Talk Dallas County program with Peterson.
