The first day of the 2019 State Wrestling Tournament was a day that went largely how it was expected to, with several Dallas County wrestlers advancing to the second day.

For Perry, senior Kaleb Olejniczak won his first round match at 138 pounds, while freshman Cole Nelson lost first round at 106, but won his consolation bracket match. Junior Jacob Nelson lost both matches and his tournament run is finished. Adel-DeSoto-Minburn is sending all three of its wrestlers to the second day, as seniors Andrew Flora at 126 and Nolan Harsh at 182, and junior Kaden Sutton at 220 each won their first round match. Other Dallas County competitors to win their first round matches include: Luke Fistler at 160 for Dallas Center-Grimes; Caleb Swalla at 160 for Van Meter-Earlham; and Cody Fischer at 220 for Woodward-Granger.

Dallas County wrestlers that lost in the first round but won their first consolation match include: Trevon Wells at 126 and Brayden Broderick at 132 for DCG; Colby Wiederholt at 120, Sam Miller at 170, and Derrin Sesker at 285 for Van Meter-Earlham; and Ty Lawrenson at 285 for Woodward-Granger. Wrestlers who lost both of their matches yesterday include: Bain Broderick at 152 for DCG; and Zane Dodson at 113, Quinn Corcoran at 145, and Bryce Cole at 152 for Van Meter-Earlham.
