A Monday afternoon crash resulted in injuries in Greene County.
Greene County Sheriff Jack Williams says the car vs semi-tractor trailer crash happened around 3:15pm on Highway 30 near M Avenue. Williams tells Raccoon Valley Radio the initial report was a car had stopped on the highway, a car behind the stopped car quickly hit their brakes, but spun out, crossed the centerline and struck an oncoming semi-tractor trailer. The car ended up in the south ditch and the semi went through the ditch, hit a farm fence and ended up in a field.
Williams says both drivers were taken to Greene County Medical Center with injuries. The car was a total loss and the semi had disabling damage. The names of the drivers and the extent of their injuries are unknown at this time. The Iowa State Patrol is in charge of the investigation.
The Greene County Sheriff’s office, the Jefferson Police and Fire departments, the Iowa Department of Transportation Traffic Enforcement Division and Greene County Emergency Medical Services assisted at the scene. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
