A momentum-shifting shot at the end of the second quarter helped the Adel-Desoto-Minburn Tigers varsity boys basketball team return to the win column Tuesday night. After sophomore Nate Mueller missed a long three-point shot straight away with under 10 seconds remaining first half, sophomore Tate Stine Smith skyed between multiple defenders to bring down the offensive rebound for ADM. From his knees, Stine-Smith fired a pass from the baseline back outside the arch to Mueller at the top of the key. ADM’s point guard sidestepped a defender and on one leg hit a running three-point shot as time expired, giving ADM a 37-35 halftime lead. The Tigers outscored Carlisle in the second half, 37-23, for a 75-58 victory on the Wildcats senior night. Carlisle senior Colin Lister, who had a Raccoon River Conference record 43 points against ADM back in December, was held to 18 points in the setback. Mueller topped ADM with 24 points, assisting on five other baskets in the victory. The win improves ADM’s overall record to 10-8 and their Raccoon River Conference mark to 8-5. The ADM girls basketball team lost in the varsity opener to the Wildcats 58-46. Both ADM varsity basketball teams will close their Raccoon River Conference schedule in Boone Friday night against the Toreadors.
