Do you wish to research your family history, but don’t know where to start?
Amateur and accomplished researchers are welcome to join the Panora Public Library’s Genealogy Club. In addition to the club, library patrons are encouraged to use their ProQuest Ancestry service. Library Director Kim Finnegan says they have subscribed to the service for a year now, and she would like to see increased usage so they can keep it available for the long-term.
The Genealogy Club meets once a month and is hosted by Stuart resident Kris Laidley. Finnegan shares the format of the club meetings, “Everybody will have a computer that signs up and we have an icon on the computer so they’ll go onto there and she’ll explain different things and talk about it. And she’ll also open it up to discussion, she says we can all learn from each other, which is very true.”
The club meets the first Wednesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the Panora Public Library, beginning tomorrow. There is no fee or registration required, and it’s open to the public.
