The public is invited to a unique event in Jefferson on Sunday.

The Greene County Historical Society will be taking you back to a time when there was no indoor plumbing or septic tanks but when outhouses ruled the land.

Chuck Offenburger with the historical society says there will be a featured speaker from Clarinda.  Teresa Minard is one of the region’s leading experts on outhouses and is often referred to as “The Outhouse Lady”.  She has presented more than 60 programs on outhouses in a fun and entertaining way.

Along with the free presentation, executive director of the historical museum Roger Aegerter built a replica of an authentic outhouse that will be on display along with other items used during its heyday in the 1920’s and ‘30’s adds Offenburger.

Following the program, there will be refreshments provided by the historical society.

The free event will be at the Greene County Historical Museum in Jefferson at 2pm on Sunday and the public is welcomed to attend.
