The Jefferson Parks and Recreation Board met yesterday.
The Board listened to two proposals about replacing the current light fixtures in the Greene County Community Center’s gym. The Board decided to table the discussion due to the fixtures light bulbs being replaced this year but make the City Council aware of intention of switching to a more efficient system.
The Board approved a few agenda items. They accepted the quote from ACCO out of Johnston to replace the 16-foot diving board and three lifeguard chairs at $2,617 which would come out of JPRD’s grounds and building fund. They also approved Christ the Lutheran Church to rent the gym for special events every Sunday in April and agreed to pay a renting fee.
The Board decided to wait until next month’s meeting to make a decision on a quote to replace all of the countertops and roof at the pool and director Vicky Lautner said they are still working on the cause for why the pool used 3 million gallons of water this summer.
The Board discussed the youth wrestling program and its options. It was decided that JPRD would keep the wrestling program but with the wrestling mats now at the Jefferson Fieldhouse, they needed to check and see where the kids could go to practice.
