Extreme cold temperatures and high winds have put the entirety of the Raccoon Valley Radio listening area in a wind chill warning today.
The warning will persist until 6 p.m. for Dallas, Greene, and Guthrie counties. However, the warning will be replaced by a wind chill advisory through 9 a.m. tomorrow. The National Weather Service warns that the wind chill temperatures will be between 35 and 50-below-zero during that time frame, which can cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 10 minutes. The cold can also rapidly cause hypothermia and can be life-threatening. There’s also the possibility of scattered snow showers through the rest of the day, which can cause reduced visibility and slippery road conditions.
Keep listening to Raccoon Valley Radio for the latest weather updates, as well as any cancellation and delay information for Dallas, Greene, and Guthrie counties.
