Fundraising has been progressing well for the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office’s “Ride the Thin Blue Line” project, and Sheriff Chad Leonard says they’re close to having something to present to the public.
Leonard reminds people that the idea is to have a memorial for fallen officers in Iowa, which will be attached to the Raccoon River Valley Trail as it runs adjacent to the new law enforcement center. He says it’s been exciting to see the project take on a life of its own, and he’s encouraged by the response from the Dallas County community and beyond. “You know, the project’s amazing! We’re getting a ton of support all over the State of Iowa, a lot of the police chiefs and sheriffs are just now learning about it. I’m hoping to have drawings for the public to look at and make comments on here in the new future, as far as what it could look like. And so we’ve got a large committee made up that kind of handling this whole thing now, and hopefully once we get drawings we’ll be able to roll it out to the public and move forward with it.”
Leonard adds, one aspect of fundraising that has particularly been going well has been the sale of t-shirts. The shirts were designed by Red Gate Customs in Bouton, and there are several different styles people can choose from with the profits benefiting “Ride the Thin Blue Line.” The public can purchase shirts through the Red Gate Customs website by clicking the first link below, or by stopping into the Sheriff’s Office in Adel.
