The Greene County Gobblers Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF) is having their annual banquet and fundraiser this Saturday.
The event will take place at Clover Hall on the Greene County Fairgrounds with doors opening at 5:30pm. A catered meal by Lidderdale Country Store will begin at 7, with the live auction to follow. There will be also a variety of raffles and a silent auction. Treasurer Fred Long says they are featuring 11 firearms this year. He explains that all proceeds go to their state board to be divided up.
“It’s usually 50 to 55-percent of the money will go to public land acquisition. There’s about 15 to 20-percent that goes to habitat improvement. And then there’s a large portion that goes to getting youth and other individuals involved in the sport.”
Single tickets are $45, which includes a yearly membership to the NWTF and the meal. A couples ticket is $55 and a sponsorship ticket is $275, which includes a half-price raffle package and a chance to win a donated firearm. Tickets can be purchased from Long or online by clicking on the link below. To hear more from Long about the event, listen to tomorrow’s Community State Bank in Paton Let’s Talk Greene County program.
