The Greene County Board of Supervisors met Monday in regular session.
The Board approved a letter of support for Genesis Development to apply for a Greene County Community Foundation grant to replace a baler for the recycling program and they also appointed Ellen Ritter as the supervisor of the county’s mental health advocate. Additionally, the Board set February 11th as the public hearing date for the emergency management 2020 fiscal year budget, which must be certified to the state by February 28th.
Emergency Management Coordinator Dennis Morlan then addressed the Board about replacing the Region V Hazmat truck. He said the proposed rate would be $1.50 per capita for each of the nine-county region to pay to purchase the $730,000 truck. They also want to be in a lease-to-purchase agreement with the Fort Dodge Fire Department, which would pay for half of the truck, on a ten-year lease, with a $125,000 down payment. The Board agreed and will approve the item at a future meeting.
The meeting ended in a budget work session. The Board agreed to give the Greene County Libraries Association a three-percent increase to the base amount for all of the libraries. They also agreed to not separate themselves from the rest of the elected county officials when they make their decision on the compensation board’s recommendation for salary increases happens.
