Saturday night was cold outside, but inside Perry Elementary is was filled with the warmth of young ladies and the men in their lives enjoying the annual Daddy-Daughter Dance.
The festivities were organized by the Perry Junior Class Prom Committee, and there were countless girls between pre-kindergarten and 5th grade in attendance with their gentlemen escorts. Activities during the evening included: pictures, fingernail painting, flowers, and concessions in the multipurpose room; the dance in the gymnasium; and the cakewalk in one of the classrooms. One couple out on the dance floor was Ahryn and Chris Cohea, who took a break from partying to tell Raccoon Valley Radio what they were enjoying most about the night. Ahryn said, “I’m having so much fun! It is perfect, and I like it!”
Chris echoed Ahryn’s sentiment. “It’s a phenomenal event! I’m shocked at the turnout, I knew it was big and everybody always comes out to help the junior class that does it every year. But being the first time coming and seeing it, it’s unbelievable the turnout and I know all the kids are having a blast! There are people of all walks that are out here celebrating and not only helping the junior class, but having a blast as a family!”
The Coheas were taking part in the dance for the first time, and Chris added that Ahryn was nervous at first, but assures future attendees that the dance was just as fun as they hoped it would be. Organizers were pleased with the turnout and said they made well over $1,000 with the event. All proceeds will go towards funding this year’s prom.
