The South Hamilton (Jewell) basketball teams travel to the middle school gym in Jefferson tonight to meet the Greene County Rams in a Heart of Iowa Activities Conference girl/boy doubleheader. These are make up games after the teams were weathered out earlier this week. The Hawks swept two games from the Rams on Nov. 30 in Jewell, so the Rams will be trying to avoid the season series sweep.

The SH girls are 3-11 and own a 40-21 victory over the 0-14 Rams. The SH boys are 12-1 on the season and ranked fifth in Class 2A. Their only loss is to HOIAC leader Gilbert, a 3A program. The Rams lost 79-47 in Jewell in the first meeting. Senior Trey Hinote went down just three minutes into that game with a severe ankle injury. Hinote has well over 1,000 points in his career and is a Dordt College (Sioux Center) recruit. He’s back in the lineup now, as is 6′ 9″ junior Tyler Miller, a transfer student from Paton-Churdan. Miller had 17 points, four rebounds, four assists, and two steals in his first varsity game for the Rams last Saturday in a 70-55 loss to 3A Dallas Center-Grimes. South Hamilton is led by four players who average scoring in double figures.

Coverage on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com starts today at 5:45 p.m. with the girls playing at 6 o’clock, and the boys to follow. Greene County remains at home tomorrow night with PCM (Monroe) visits for another conference girl/boy doubleheader.
