The last dual meets for the Greene County high school wrestlers start today at 5:30 p.m. at Perry High School. The Blue Jays are hosting the Rams, Ballard (Huxley) Bombers, and Humboldt Wildcats in a quadrangular. Humboldt, from the North Central Conference, has the best dual meet record among the four, at 22-3. Greene County, a Heart of Iowa Activities Conference member, is 17-8, while Ballard stands at 13-12 and Perry is 10-11. The Bombers and Blue Jays both compete in the Raccoon River Activities Conference.
First year head coach Zach Beekman will watch his team tonight, then on Saturday to close the regular season at the ACGC Charger Invitational in Guthrie Center. After Saturday, there’s a full week for the Rams to prepare for the postseason. Greene County will go to Ida Grove on Feb. 2 for a Class 2A Sectional Tournament, along with 10th ranked Sergeant Bluff-Luton, Atlantic, Harlan, Kuemper Catholic (Carroll), and the host OABCIG Falcons.
