Dallas Center-Grimes made 11 of 21 shots from three-point range en route to a 70-55 non-conference boys’ basketball victory over Greene County on Saturday afternoon in Gilbert as part of a four-game event billed as a “Showcase.” The Rams were just four of 19 from beyond the arc, and the difference in made three-point goals was the difference in the game. The Mustangs improved to 5-8 while the Rams have lost seven of their last eight and are now 5-10 on the season. Greene County has lost its last four games. Saturday’s contest was heard on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.
DC-G made 32 of 63 shots overall of 51% from the floor and they were nine of 14 from the free throw line. Greene County went 19 of 44 overall and 13 of 17 on foul shots, including a perfect eight of eight in the second half.
Junior Tyler Miller played in his first varsity game for the Rams after transferring from Paton-Churdan and sitting out the season until now because of the transfer rule. The 6′ 9″ Miller played well in his debut. His first basket of the season was a two-handed dunk in the opening quarter. He finished with 17 points and he was seven for seven shooting free throws. Junior Carter Morton had 14 points and senior Trey Hinote added eight.
The Mustangs were led by senior Tyler Borneman with 18 points. Sophomore Luke Rankin had 17 and freshman Cole Glasgow scored 12.
