An off-duty Guthrie County Sheriff’s Deputy assisted in the arrest of a Wisconsin man who’s suspected to be involved in over 25 burglaries across the state, including Jamaica.

According to the Iowa Department of Public Safety, law enforcement agencies began responding to numerous burglaries of rural businesses across Iowa and Minnesota beginning last September. The burglar forced their way into businesses late at night and stole primarily cash. Guthrie County Sheriff Marty Arganbright says the suspect, 43-year-old Eric Todd Hall, is believed to be responsible for the two burglary incidents that occurred last October in Jamaica.

Hall has an outstanding warrant from Wisconsin for probation violation, and the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office and Council Bluffs Police Department have also filed warrants for his arrest including three counts of third degree burglary, eluding, and interference with official acts. On Wednesday, an off-duty Guthrie County Deputy located Hall at the Prairie Meadows Casino in Altoona. The deputy notified Polk County Sheriff’s Deputies who responded and attempted to arrest him on his outstanding warrants. He initially resisted deputies but was taken into custody and charged by Polk County for second degree criminal mischief and interference with official acts.

The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation is in charge of the investigation in Iowa and is working with numerous sheriff’s offices and police departments across the state. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
