Every fall the Panora community comes together for homecoming activities, and every January the Panorama School District gives back during a special event.
This is the seventh year of Snowcoming which includes fundraisers for local charities. While students are asked to donate their change to “Be the Change” jars for the Panther Pantry and 3Cs Children’s Clothes Closet of Panora, events were also held to donate needed items for both organizations. Students and staff also nominate Snowcoming Royalty, those who deserve recognition for their time, commitment, and support to Panorama Schools.
Superintendent Shawn Holloway shares the purpose of Snowcoming, “Well, really what it is, is about service, and so there’s just a number of different activities that we try to do with the kids to promote community service. Like if you walk into our library right now we’re collecting gloves and hats and some of those types of things. So it’s really just service oriented and then it usually ends with our Pink Out basketball games.”
Anticipated snow has caused Panorama to move up their Pink Out basketball event and lasagna supper fundraiser to tonight. The freewill donation supper will be held from 5-7 p.m. at the high school and the Panthers girls and boys basketball games will be at 6 and 7:30 p.m. A bake sale and other activities will take place with all proceeds going to the American Cancer Society.
