A fundraising effort is currently underway to upgrade and add onto the Churdan City Park.
Organizer Libby Towers says she wanted to keep what’s already at the park, but add new playground equipment for younger generations to enjoy. One of the early steps in the process was to involve the Paton-Churdan elementary and middle school students.
“We’d asked for three different designs. We had pictures up and the kids were of course just excited to see the idea of a new park. We had them vote. The one that they voted the most for is now the park that we’re going to try and put in and try to give the park that ownership (of the kids) and help keep the kids excited about a new structure and facility.”
The design is through Boland Recreation and the structure is built by Miracle. Pictures of the new equipment can be found below. Towers notes that donations toward the project can be dropped off to the United Bank of Iowa in Churdan. Checks can be made payable to the Churdan Park. Towers adds that they are applying for grant funds to help with the cost of the project. She anticipates the project to be completed by the fall of 2020.
