For a second time this winter the Adel-Desoto-Minburn Tigers varsity basketball teams make a road trip to Iowa’s town of tulips. ADM, who visited the Pella Christian Eagles on November 27, returns to Marion County tonight for a nonconference varsity doubleheader against the Pella Little Dutch. The Little Dutch swept last year’s pair of games against ADM in Adel. The girls game saw Pella top ADM, 60-38, and the boys game had the Little Dutch topping the Tigers, 63-51.
The ADM Tigers girls basketball team matched last year’s win total over the weekend with a 45-31 triumph over the Earlham Cardinals. The victory improved ADM to 4-2 against nonconference opponents, pushing their overall record to 9-3. A pair of juniors represents ADM in the Raccoon River Conference scoring race. Abbie Hlas is the third highest scorer in the league so far this winter with 168 points scored, while Delaney Bertman sits fourth in the conference with 162 points.
The ADM boys basketball team improved to 7-2 overall and 5-1 in the Raccoon River Conference with a 54-53 victory over Bondurant-Farrar Friday in Polk County. The Tigers avoided a double-digit collapse against the Bluejays, leading by 10 at halftime and by nine points entering the fourth quarter. Senior Koby Hardcastle tops ADM and ranks fourth in the Raccoon River Conference with 140 points scored this season, while sophomore Nate Mueller tops the league with 48 assists this winter. The Raccoon Valley Radio Network will have live play by play coverage of tonight’s varsity doubleheader between ADM and Pella on True Country K 107.9.
