There’s a new career scoring leader for Panorama varsity girls basketball. With a nine-point performance Friday evening against West Central Valley, senior Baliey Beckman became the district’s top scorer in girls’ five on five basketball with 1,317 points. The Raccoon Valley Radio Network spoke with Panorama girls basketball coach Dan Druivenga Monday afternoon and shared Beckman surpassed 2014 graduate Oliva Godfrey for the record. Godfrey held the record for nearly five seasons at 1,313 points. Druivenga shared he knew Beckman was closing in the record. “I knew she was getting close (to the record),” Druivenga said, “I just didn’t realize how close she was until I looked it up Friday. It’s quite an accomplishment because of her work ethic and her dedication (to the sport). She’s worked really hard and deserves the record.”

Beckman will begin padding her record tonight when the Panorama girls basketball team visits Dallas County for a West Central Activities Conference matchup versus Woodward-Granger. The Panthers girls basketball team brings a 10-0 record with them on the road tonight. The varsity doubleheader between Panorama and Woodward-Granger starts with the varsity girls contest at 6 p.m. and the boys’ contest to follow from Granger.
