City of Perry

Now that 2019 has officially begun, the City of Perry is looking forward to a busy and productive year.

Mayor John Andorf says a few projects expected to begin and hopefully finish during the current calendar year include the runway expansion and new hangar at the Perry Municipal Airport, as well as the renovation of the wastewater treatment plant. Andorf also says that he and everyone else in the City seems to be excited about celebrating Perry’s sesquicentennial this July. Other things he’s looking forward to in 2019 aren’t as specific.

“I suspect we’ll continue to see downtown revitalization and more businesses. We have some, you know, in the works right now that are being worked on as we speak. I just look for continued housing and more revitalization downtown, continue on the projects that we’ve planned and started on, and come up with some new ones. So I think there’s going to be things happening across the board, in terms of development and expansion. Things are going to continue to pop in Perry, Iowa.”

Andorf adds, even beyond 2019, citizens can get excited about the Parks and Recreation master plan that includes a possible outdoor aquatic center, as well as continued work on the connector trail. He’s also hopeful that Perry Economic Development is able to find someone to move into the 30,000 square-foot spec building located at the Industrial Complex some time this year.
