For the first time this season, the ACGC girls basketball team has a record below 500. The team received a little extra time to prepare for their final two games, as their second and final regular season meeting with West Central Valley was postponed to a week from today. The Chargers’ remaining schedule includes the Wildcats and Woodward-Granger on Tuesday.

Despite coming off a 49-59 setback to the Van Meter Bulldogs on Monday, head coach Dan Baker is optimistic on how the team is playing heading towards the postseason. “From here on out, I’m tickled with what we’ve got going. I like where we’re at and I like where we’re headed. If the girls would just come out and share the basketball and stay focused, come out with energy and confidence, we’re going to be great.”

The Chargers are slated to travel to Corning on Saturday, February 9th for the opening round of the Class 2A Region 7 playoffs. The gold and black will meet the Southwest Valley Timberwolves for the second time in an opening round of a postseason and the second time this season. The Chargers fell to the Timberwolves in 2017 by twelve but were victorious earlier this month at home.
