Dallas County has made considerable strides in filling the vacant Human Resources Department Director position, and interviews with candidates should be happening soon.
At a recent Board of Supervisors meeting, Board Chair Mark Hanson gave an update on the hiring process. He mentioned that a committee was formed to review all the applications received, and ultimately make a recommendation for who to hire for the position. The committee consists of Hanson, County Auditor Julia Helm, Operations Director Rob Tietz, Information Technology Director Todd Noah, Suzanne Hegarty with Public Health, and Donna Wolk from the HR Department. Around 22 individuals applied for the job, and the committee has narrowed it down to five or six applicants.
From there, Hanson says they will likely consider two or three finalists and bring them in for face-to-face interviews. The interviews could potentially be held Tuesday, February 12th, with Helm, Tietz, Noah, and Hegarty meeting with the candidates. Hanson is hopeful to have a decision on the new HR Director before the end of February. Tietz mentioned that each of the applicants were from outside the County, as no one currently in the office desired the job. The position opened after the resignation of previous HR Director Erin Freeman on January 8th. Tietz has been serving as Interim Director since being appointed to the position by the Supervisors on January 10th.
