Another year of postseason girls basketball in Iowa will feature the Panorama Panthers varsity squad as one of the region’s top seeds in Class 2A.The Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union (IGHSAU) released playoff brackets for the first three classes of schools and Panorama is the No. 1 seed in the Class 2A Region 7 bracket. The 12 team field features eight members of the West Central Activities Conference vying for one ticket to the Iowa State Basketball tournament. Panorama head girls basketball coach Dan Druivenga tells the Raccoon Valley Radio Network that he’s gotten used to seeing conference foes on the postseason trail. “In recent years, we’ve been staying close to home and playing conference teams,” Druivenga said, “That’s easier to scout, where if you don’t know somebody you have to ask for film, or you got to watch.”
Joining Panorama in the Class 2A Region 7 bracket from the West Central Activities Conference include AC/GC, Earlham, Madrid, Ogden, Van Meter, Woodward-Granger, and West Central Valley. Dike-New Hartford, Nodaway Valley, South Hamilton, and Southwest Valley round out the playoff field. First round games of the Class 2A Region 7 bracket begin Saturday, February 9. Panorama begins their postseason run on Tuesday, February 12, hosting the winner of Madrid and Woodward-Granger in Panora.
