A rural resident from the 700 block of J Avenue brought a brown Labrador mixed breed dog to the Law Enforcement Center to be placed in the animal pound. The dog was found roaming around her residence and she was unable to locate an owner. The deputy placed the dog into the animal shelter.

A deputy was dispatched to the 600 block of East Hager Street in Grand Junction for a reported theft of personal property. The theft is under investigation at this time.

A deputy spoke with a Churdan resident about the city ordinance concerning the ownership of pit-bull dogs within the city limits.

A deputy responded to a car-deer accident that occurred on 230th Street west of S Avenue. A 2008 GMC Acadia that is owned and was being driven by Valerie N Martin of rural Grand Junction was eastbound on 230th Street when a deer ran from the ditch and onto the roadway. Martin struck the deer with the front of her vehicle causing an estimated $3000 in damages. Valerie Martin was not injured but her young daughter was transported by private vehicle to the Greene County Medical Center for further evaluation.

A deputy was advised of a dog running at large in Scranton. The dog was reported to be dragging a chain and chasing a young child on a bicycle. The owner of the dog was located and the deputy did inform the owner of the dog running at large ordinance and the dollar amount incurred if the citation is issued.

A deputy was asked to help mediate an ongoing civil property dispute in Scranton.

Wednesday, September 4th

The chief deputy sheriff transported a cat to the Iowa State Veterinary Lab for rabies testing. The cat was caught earlier in the day in a live trap by a rural resident in the 200 block of X Avenue. The cat did bite the resident several times in his attempt to free the cat.

The Greene County Sheriff’s Office was advised by the Guthrie County Sheriff’s office of a distraught male subject that had driven from Audubon County and was possibly heading to Bayard or Scranton. The male was driving a vehicle with no license plates and he is revoked from operating  a motor vehicle. The deputy was not able to locate this vehicle in Greene County.

A deputy was dispatched to Grand Junction for a reported two vehicle accident that occurred at 16th Street and Main. A 1994 Chevrolet S-10 pickup that is owned and was driven by Timothy Todd Bishop of Grand Junction was eastbound on Main Street and attempting to turn north onto 16th Street when he struck a 1999 Pontiac Grand Am that was being driven by Kimber Sue Murphy of Grand Junction. Murphy was stopped at the stop sign on 16th  Street waiting to turn onto Main Street when she was struck. Damage to the Murphy vehicle was estimated to be $ 3000 and the Bishop vehicle $1500. Timothy Bishop was issued citations for failure to maintain control and operation of a non-registered vehicle.

A deputy assisted in locating a missing Jefferson  youth that was reported to be in the Grand Junction area. The youth was found and returned to his residence in Jefferson.

A vehicle that is owned by the Greene County Sheriff’s Office was involved in a minor accident in Grand Junction while the deputy was assisting Greene County Emergency Medical Services personnel with the transporting of an elderly female to the Greene County Medical Center for evaluation. The husband of the female being transported was attempting to back from his driveway to follow the ambulance, when he backed into the deputy’s vehicle causing only minor damage to the rear bumper of the vehicle. The Jefferson Police Department  was asked to complete the state accident report upon the deputy’s arrival at the medical center.  Damage was estimated to be less than $400.

In all cases when a defendant has been charged, this is merely an accusation, and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
