The St. Joseph’s Parish Center in Jefferson received a $3,525 grant from Alliant Energy and Trees Forever’s “Branching Out” program.
Committee head Peg Raney says they’ve finished installing the playground equipment and shelter house on the east side of the church which is named the Paul Nally Park after the late benefactor Paul Nally.
She states that they are waiting to use the grant money from Trees Forever to plant about 37 trees around the park which is slated for sometime late-September to early-October. The trees will be planted by eighth grade science teacher Gerry Stein and his classes in partnership with Brad Riphagen, member of the Jefferson tree committee.
Once the trees are planted and grass seed to put down, Raney adds, there will be a plaque on a rock by the shelter house during a dedication ceremony later this fall.
