The ADM Tigers bounced back nicely after a loss to number seven in Class 2A Ogden on Wednesday to defeat the third-ranked Bulldogs in Class 1A Van Meter 8-1.
For the Tigers, head coach Jason Book put his senior ace, Dylan Nelson on the mound he did not disappoint the home crowd in Adel with a six inning performance, scattering six hits and allowing one run while walking one and striking out eight for his seventh victory of the season.
Van Meter used three pitchers with senior starter Zach Prouty taking the loss, struggling through two-plus innings of work, giving up six hits for four runs and walking one and striking out one Tiger batter.
The number seven batter in Book’s lineup had a career night at the plate. Sophomore Ethan Herron entered last night’s game with three doubles for the season and matched that total in one game. Herron went three-for-four with three doubles, two RBI’s and one run scored.
ADM’s offense totaled 12 hits and stranded 11 runners.
The Tigers improve to 25-9 on the season while Van Meter slips to 29-8. ADM plays host to Class 3A non-conference opponent Council Bluffs Lewis Central tonight. You can hear that game on K107 with the pregame show starting at 7:15pm and first pitch at 7:30.
