One suspect gave himself up and the other is recovering from injuries sustained in the Greene County fire last month.
Greene County Sheriff Steve Haupert says 19 year-old Perry suspect Cory Steadman turned him into the Law Enforcement Center less than a week after he and Marcus Schmitz also 19 years old from Perry set a vacant farm structure on fire at 2200 block of X Avenue on Saturday, June 22nd.
Sheriff Haupert give an update on Schmitz’s condition in relation to when he will be brought in to the LEC.
“Got burnt pretty severely and at the present time (Schmitz) was released from the hospital and is home. At some point in time, he will be coming in to be booked and released.”
He states the Schmitz suffered third degree burns on part of his body and once he is free from threat of infection, he will be transported to the LEC.
The two are charged with a Class C felony and second degree arson.
A trial date has not been set.
