The ADM softball team couldn’t overcome a sound pitching performance and overwhelming offense as they fell in the first round of regional postseason in Class 3A to number five Bondurant-Farrar 6-0.

The Tigers fell behind right away in the first inning after allowing the game’s first run to score reaching on an error by Ashley Burrows and was later driven in by Emily Wilson’s double to the outfield.  The Lady Jays tallied three more runs in the third, one in the fourth and one run in the fifth inning to put the game away.

Bondurant-Farrar’s senior pitcher Caily Schlenker held ADM to a four-hit shutout and struck out nine in seven innings.

Tigers head coach Steph Mehmen was proud of the way her girls played all season and the record doesn’t show the improvement made by all the girls.

“Our win-loss record does not indicate the type of growth that we’ve had in our program from this time last year, we’re leaps-and-bounds in terms of the type of team, the type of effort and just the consistency that we are able to bring out.  We’re young and next year we’re a force to be reckoned with.”

ADM ends its season with a 4-26 overall record as the fifth-ranked Lady Jays move on to the second round of regionals on Friday and will get Saydel who defeated Atlantic 15-13 last night.
