Greene Co. SupervisorsThe Greene County Board of Supervisors met yesterday in regular session.

The Board heard a City of Jefferson update with City Administrator Mike Palmer.

Palmer reported to the Board about the final steps before Hy-Vee can start construction in Jefferson and that Jefferson Municipal Golf Course doesn’t have as strong of membership numbers but that the course is in great shape to hopefully increase memberships.

He also talked about a new location for the Greene County Humane Society facility.  Palmer said he checked with the Airport Commission to proceed with plans to place a new facility by the entrance to the airport and that they will have to check with the Federal Avaiation Administration to make sure everything is within regulations.  Palmer stated that PAWS is currently looking at different floor plans to see how they want their facility set up.

The Supervisors unanimously approved the lease agreement with Access Systems for the treasurer’s equipment.

County Engineer Wade Weiss updated the Board on different projects around the county.  First, the County Road E-57 bridge will take longer than 50 working days between Cooper and Rippey due to unforeseen circumstances.

He told the Board about Don Orris with Thomas Jefferson Gardens requesting the county to haul the pavement away from a portion of the street in front of the future site for the welcome center on the corner of Lincoln Way and Chestnut Street.  The Supervisors gave permission for Weiss to haul it away.

Weiss then reported to the Supervisors about the Bell Tower getting a new air conditioning system installed soon.
