The Greene County basketball teams travel to Saydel High School on the northeast side of Des Moines tomorrow night for a girl/boy doubleheader. The games will be the first of 2019 for all four teams, none of which have winning records. Coach Chris Nelson’s Rams are 4-6 in boys’ basketball, 2-4 in Heart of Iowa Activities Conference play. Saydel’s boys have won twice against Class 1A programs with losing records, but the Eagles are without a win in the conference.
Coach Nelson talked with Raccoon Valley Radio about his team and said, “We’ve got some good opportunities here in 2019. Everyone’s got a clean slate in my mind entering January. We’ve just got to make sure we do our things and do them as well as we can, then take advantage of the some of the things we can force the other team into.”
The boys’ game follows a 6 p.m. girls contest between two winless teams. The Rams are 0-9 and the Eagles are 0-10. Coverage on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com starts at 5:45 p.m. then the girls’ game with the boys to follow.
