Guthrie Center Sign

There are still a few days left to bask in the glow of Guthrie Center’s lighted park display.

Annually, a community-concerted effort puts up the drive-through lighted display at Mitchell Park on the west side of town. Guthrie Center Mayor Dennis Kunkle encourages those who haven’t checked it out yet to do so, “And we did something new this year, we put a little box down at the park for donations. We always had done (the display) and had a soup supper to raise a little funds to help deflate our expenses but that seems to be going okay.”

Kunkle explains, the park might seem a little less bright this year as participants had to contend with colder weather when putting up the display this fall, but he remains proud of this Guthrie Center holiday tradition. The lighted park will be open through New Year’s Day. The park is free to enter, but donations are welcome to help fund the attraction.
