Class 3A number 11 Roland-Story (Story City) rolled to a 55-23 Heart of Iowa Activities Conference girls’ basketball victory over Greene County on Friday night in Jefferson. The Norsemen improved to 4-1 in the conference and 5-2 overall, while the Rams fell to 0-5 and 0-7. The action was broadcast on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.
R-S led 18-7 after one quarter and 34-7 at intermission. Greene County sank a pair of three-point goals in the final minute of the game to avoid being shut out in the final stanza. The Norsemen were 20 of 48 from the field including eight of 25 from three-point range. They were seven of 12 shooting free throws and had 11 turnovers. Greene County was eight of 40 from the field and four of five from the foul line. The Rams went three of 11 on three-pointers and turned the ball over 22 times.
Sophomore Lily Muir scored a career best 10 points to top the Rams in scoring, while R-S had 16 points from Madeline Morton and 13 from Susie Weaver.
