Home court advantage for a pair of rivalry games wasn’t enough for the Perry varsity basketball teams to end their respective losing streaks, as the Jayettes fell 64-24 and the Bluejays lost 63-11 to Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Friday night.

The girls team was led once again by junior Molly Lutmer, who managed 12 points. The Tigers took an early advantage they wouldn’t relinquish, leading 20-6 after the first quarter, and 41-12 at halftime. Facing a running clock in the second half, the Jayettes were unable to climb back into the game, trailing 54-18 after the third, and ending the game with a 64-24 loss. ADM was led by junior Abbie Hlas, who finished with 17 points.

In the second game, the boys team kept the high-scoring Tigers in check in the first quarter, but still trailed 9-3 after one. In the second quarter, ADM put their foot on the gas while the Bluejays failed to convert a basket, and the score at halftime was 39-3. Things only got worse after the break for Perry, as their scoring drought continued and the third quarter ended with a score of 51-3. The Bluejays managed to break their shooting slump in the fourth on a pair of three-pointers by junior Mo Abdelnabi, who led the team with 9 points, but it was too little, too late. In the end, ADM took the win over their Dallas County rivals by a score of 63-11. The Tigers got 17 points from senior Koby Hardcastle, who led all scorers.

The losses drop the Jayettes to 1-8 on the season, and the Bluejays stayed winless at 0-7. Both teams will take the court next on Tuesday, as they host Winterset in another boy-girl doubleheader. You can hear all the action live on AM 1310, FM 99.7 KDLS, with pregame starting at 5:45 p.m.
