acgcThe ACGC basketball teams will continue their West Central Activities Conference schedule tonight as they host their rivals to the east in the Panorama Panthers.

The girls will have a tough task in hosting the 6th ranked Panorama girls. ACGC senior Jadeyn Carrick, who rattled off a career-high 26 points against Earlham Tuesday, thinks the gold and black will have a chance to pull off the upset. “Panora. They’ve been something that we’ve struggled with forever. But I think this year we have the girls, the mental strength, everything to come out and compete with them, and also maybe take it from them. I think we have the strength this year to do that.”

Head coach Dan Baker knows one of the keys to beating the Panthers will be to not fall behind early. “We’re going to have to come out and play a whole game. We have flashes of brilliance and we do a great job at times. But we just can’t seem to put it (together). The thing that disappoints me the most is the way we start. We don’t seem to show up in the gym ready to play.”

Baker credits Panorama head coach Dan Druivenga for his ability to turn ordinary kids into “all-stars.” Druivenga gives his expectations on what the Panthers will see tonight in Guthrie Center. “ACGC has some depth and once again they play really well at their place. So this week could be extremely tough for us.”

The Charger girls have never defeated the Panthers in four tries. The team is coming off a 45-57 defeat against Glidden-Ralston last night. You can hear the doubleheader live on KKRF2 and RaccoonValleyRadio.com. The girls game tips off at 6pm with the boys game to follow from ACGC High School in Guthrie Center.
