Over ten Greene County area children enjoyed a day of shopping and law enforcement comradery during Saturday’s Shop with a Cop.
This year the Greene County Peace Officers Association decided to take the youth to Walmart in Boone to shop for family members. Jefferson Police Captain Heath Enns and his wife Addie went shopping with seven-year-old Lucas Carter. Heath has participated with the program since its inception, but he told Raccoon Valley Radio it meant a little more now having a child of his own.
“Definitely having a child really opens up your eyes, as I’m sure everyone else that has children do as well. But yeah it’s good to get to know the kids in the community and do anything we can during this holiday time.”
The children were able to make the trip in a Greene County school bus and when they went back to Jefferson, everyone enjoyed free pizza from Breadeaux Pizza and Santa Claus even made an appearance. Heath says those who would like to donate to Shop with a Cop can make checks payable to Shop with a Cop and drop them off at the law enforcement center or at Home State Bank.
