Two Raccoon River Conference rivals separated by less than 20 miles will renew acquaintances on the hardwood tonight. The Adel-Desoto-Minburn Tigers basketball teams head south on Highway 169 tonight for a league doubleheader versus the Winterset Huskies. ADM won two of the three girls meetings last winter while Winterset won both boys contests.

The ADM girls basketball team (3-1 overall; 1-0 RRC) are looking for their third win in a row this winter and the third straight victory against the Huskies in Winterset. ADM won the last two games against Winterset in Madison County on the last possession of regulation, including a 43-41 triumph in the first round of the Class 4A regional tournament. The Tigers enter tonight’s league match off back-to-back wins at Pella Christian (62-51) and versus Ballard (52-48 F/OT). Winterset’s in the middle of an early-season slump, losing four straight contests entering tonight. The Huskies suffered a 39-33 setback versus the Norwalk Warriors Tuesday at home.

The ADM boys basketball team (1-1 overall; 1-0 RRC) snapped a 16 game league losing streak last Friday with a 69-54 over the Ballard Bombers. ADM registered 19 assists on 27 made baskets. Senior Koby Hardcastle scored a game-best 20 points, including six made three-point baskets. Sophomore Nate Mueller chipped in 14 points and dished out a game-high nine assists. Winterset suffered their first loss of the young season Tuesday, falling 85-60 at home against the Norwalk Warriors. Norwalk outscored Winterset, 53-25, between the second and third quarters. Junior Easton Darling tops the Raccoon River Conference in scoring so far, averaging 22.3 points per game.
