Fresh off a convincing doubleheader sweep of conference newcomer Pleasantville Tuesday, the Panorama Panther basketball teams hit the road tonight for another league contest. The Panthers will visit the Madrid Tigers for a West Central Activities Conference doubleheader. Both season series last winter ended in sweeps with Panorama taking the two girls games and the Madrid Tigers winning the boys contests.

The ninth-ranked Panorama girls basketball squad improved to 3-0 with a 57-16 victory over the Trojans earlier this week. The Panthers recorded 28 total steals in the win. Sisters Bailey and Payton Beckman combined to register 37 points, 13 steals, 10 rebounds, and eight steals against Pleasantville. Tonight is the second conference game of the winter for Madrid, losing their league opener against the AC/GC Chargers, 50-42, in Guthrie Center on November 30.

The Panorama boys basketball team is looking for back-to-back conference wins tonight after topping Pleasantville, 57-43, Tuesday in Panora. Three Panthers finished the game with double-figure scoring. Senior Gracen Welburg and junior Kolby Shackelford tied for the team lead with 14 points each, and sophomore Zach Rizzuti chipped in 13. Madrid is undefeated in three games so far this winter, including league victories over AC/GC (88-48) and Woodward Academy (79-66). Tonight’s varsity doubleheader between the Panthers and the Tigers starts with the varsity girls game around 6 p.m. from Madrid High School.
