Eight Perry High School instrumentalists as well as the entire dance team were recognized recently for their accomplishments.
Band students Miguel Constanza, Adrianna Eastman, Quinn Helmers, Sebastian Hernandez, Jocelyn Hopkins, Dannah Karolus, and Allie Taggart were honored as members of the Drake University Honor Band. The students performed at the recent Honor Band Festival in Des Moines, which included around 200 students from Iowa and Nebraska. It was a two-day event that included rehearsals and clinics with guest conductors and Drake faculty, culminating in two concerts. Perry Instrumental Music Director Brad Sparks was proud of the hard work his students put in to earn spots in the Drake Honor Band.

They performed a routine titled “We Are Perry!” which earned the 21-member ensemble high praise from judges and a spot on the podium. The Perry dance team is directed by Faye Southward, Lyndsey Buhrman, and Rachel Rothmeyer, and the student dancers include: Rosalyn Ayala, Savanna Benton, Kaylynn Bousman, Eliza Cunningham, Emily Debord, Delaney Eiteman, Beyonce Gonzalez, Yasmin Gonzalez, Maria Izqierdo, Ivy Medina, Macie Mosher, Sierra Newton, Marielena Ramirez, Nathaly Ramirez, Leslie Ramos, Claire Southward, Aubree Tasler, Elaine Thomason, Cindy Truong, Nubia Torres, and Sarah Vaughn.
