acgcCareer scoring nights for sophomore Kylie and junior Kennedy Young helped propel the ACGC girls basketball team to their first back-to-back victories in program history. The Chargers snapped a three-game losing skid to the Madrid Tigers, and improved to 2-0 overall, with the 50-42 victory in Guthrie Center Friday night.

Kylie Young led all Chargers in scoring with fourteen points off of four made three-pointers. Young has started the season with back-to-back double-digit scoring performances after putting up ten points in the opening win against Audubon. Nine different Chargers saw the scoring column, including Kennedy Young, who registered a career high eight points. The gold and black never looked back after jumping out to an 11-0 run to start the game. Madrid senior Shelbi Raymond led all players with 17, while classmate Sarah Eagleton added 14.

The Madrid boys took the nightcap as they cruised over the Chargers 88-47. Junior Braden Gibbons put on a show, scoring a game-high 25 points for the Tigers. Classmate Jacob Loew and sophomore Mason Lobeck contributed 16 and 12 points respectively for the now 2-0 Tigers. The Chargers dropped to 0-1 to start the season. Senior Noah Nelsen led all Chargers with 11 points, while junior Bryce Littler had ten. Senior Noah Sargent also contributed nine points on three made three-pointers.

The girls will be on the road on Monday as they tangle with the Grand View Christian Thunder. Both teams resume conference play on Tuesday when they host the Des Moines Christian Lions.
