A non-profit organization celebrated their new expanded presence in downtown Guthrie Center Thursday night.

Genesis Development and Main Street Guthrie Center held a holiday open house and ribbon cutting at the rehabilitation organization’s new location in the Williams Building on State Street. The Genesis Development Guthrie Center office was formerly housed in the County’s public health building, but due to its growing services of residential, employment, mental health, crisis intervention and more for Guthrie and surrounding counties, they relocated earlier this year to the space at 409 State Street which was renovated by the Main Street organization, AC/GC students, and community members.

Program Coordinator Marcia Johnson shares how Genesis Development aids those with disabilities, “We try and provide quality services with lots of choice based on the member’s choices and give them options and opportunities in their communities, so that is why I value working for Genesis is that it’s very member driven.”

Community members and clients of Genesis Development attended the open house, including Kory Hinners, a kitchen employee at the Panorama School District and the Panthers’ number one fan. Genesis Development helps employ both high school students and adults in the community through their programs, and has 13 locations across the state.
