The local Jefferson Elks Hoop Shoot contest is this Saturday.

The contest is for 8 to 13-year-olds and it will be held in the Greene County High School gym on Saturday starting at 9am with registrations followed by the contest at 10. The winners in each age and gender division will advance to the district competition. Winners will be decided by who can make the most free throws out of 25 attempts.

The Northwest District Hoop Shoot contest will be held in Storm Lake in January. Last year, Greene County sent six individuals onto the district competition and four then went onto the state contest.

Participants are encouraged to use the north entrance to the high school on Ram Drive.
