The Greene County Chamber and Tourism is encouraging all area businesses to be a part of a special holiday promotion and give to a worthy cause.

The Chamber is hosting the Miles of Mittens promotion. Interim Director Michael Reese says people can bring in a pair of mittens on Thursday, December 9th to participating businesses and they will receive a 25-percent off discount coupon that can be used that evening from 5 to 7:30pm, during the Community Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony. All of the mitten donations will be given to the Greene County Action Resource Center. Reese talks about why the Chamber is doing is kind of event.

“Obviously during the holiday season we want to take care of the entire community, including the less fortunate. So the more that we can come together as a community, you get a discount when you bring your mittens in, so you’re helping those in need. You’re getting a discount, you’re shopping locally, so it’s a win-win for everybody involved.”

There will be a poster at each of the participating businesses, so people know where to go to drop-off the mittens. Reese adds that any business can be added to the promotion. Those interested can contact the Chamber at 386-2155 or stop by to sign up.
