A fast first quarter start propelled the Adel-Desoto-Minburn Tigers varsity girls basketball team to an opening night victory Monday. The Tigers welcomed the Norwalk Warriors to Adel’s North Gym for a nonconference contest. ADM scored the first seven points of the contest and never relinquished control of the game in a 41-33 victory. Junior Delaney Bertman led all scorers with 13 points including converting seven of her eight free throw attempts. ADM head coach Jacob Cleveland called the first win of the Tiger coaching career satisfying. “Our girls really worked hard the last two weeks,” Cleveland said, “The energy was good, defensively we got after it, (The girls) expected to win and we got the W.”
The win is the first opening night victory for ADM since the start of the 2016-17 season. The Tigers look to make it two in a row tonight when ADM travels to Van Meter for a nonconference contest versus the Bulldogs.
