With the Thanksgiving holiday coming up, there are several offices and businesses that will be closed later this week in Jefferson.

The Greene County Courthouse, Jefferson City Hall, Greene County Community Center, Greene County Extension Office, Greene County Chamber and Tourism Office, Jefferson Public Library and Jefferson Post Office will be closed on Thursday. The courthouse, Jefferson City Hall and the Greene County Extension office will remain closed on Friday in observance of the holiday. The Jefferson Public Library will close early on Wednesday at 6pm.

Library staff reminds everyone that nothing is due to the library when it is closed for a holiday. Jefferson City Administrator Mike Palmer also reminds residents of a slight change in garbage routes this week. “I believe they will pick up Thursday’s route on Wednesday. So Friday is the day that we don’t pick up residential trash. That’s where the people who are on Thursday need to have their trash out on Wednesday.”

Palmer says garbage routes will go back to normal next week. And residents are reminded to have their garbage at curbside by 6am to ensure proper pickup.
