Greene County hosted Kuemper Catholic (Carroll) in Iowa Hall of Pride basketball scrimmages on Saturday night in the middle school gym in Jefferson. The contests were played under game-like conditions, but do not count on the season record.

Kuemper won 38-29 in the girls’ contest. First year head coach Tyler Westhoff’s Rams led 26-13 early in the third quarter, then were out scored 25-3 the rest of the way. The Rams shot more often from three-point range than fans in recent years had been accustomed to seeing with the team going five of 17 from long range. Bailey Cunningham led Greene County scorers with nine points while Kassie Lamoureux had eight, with six each from Izzy Bravard and Sadie Wilson. Lamoureaux and Wilson each made a pair of three-point shots and Cunningham had one.

Trey Hinote and Lance Hughes are the only seniors on the Greene County boys’ team. They combined to score more points than the entire Kuemper Catholic team as the Rams were 89-64 winners. Hin0te made nine goals from three-point range and finished with 35 points, and Hughes scored 33, which included one three-point basket. In all, Coach Chris Nelson’s Rams went 31 of 66 overall from the floor, and that includes 15 three-point goals.
